We have gone to Mexico and stayed at all-inclusive resorts all but one time. The resort that was not all-inclusive was InterContinental Presidente Cancun. This is a very nice resort, but everything was a la carte and very expensive. So, as we share below, we decided to have a totally difference experience while at this hotel/resort. Following are the differences we found between these options.
Pricing: All-inclusive resorts in Mexico typically offer package deals that include meals, drinks, and activities, while hotels generally charge for these items separately. This can make all-inclusive resorts more cost-effective, especially for travelers who plan to enjoy many of the resort's amenities. And, we are all about deals, aren't we?
Amenities: All-inclusive resorts in Mexico have a wide range of amenities on-site, such as multiple restaurants, bars, and pools, as well as activities such as water sports, fitness classes, and entertainment. Hotels may have fewer amenities, and guests may need to leave the hotel to find restaurants or activities.
During our hotel experience, since we would have to pay for meals, we decided we would spend our days experiencing the area. We used public transportation to travel in to town (this should be an excursion), we ate at local establishments, we walked the streets and we visited the local mercados. We enjoyed both Mercado 28 and Mercado 25 in the heart of Cancun.
Food and drink options: All-inclusive resorts usually offer a variety of dining options, from buffet-style restaurants to specialty restaurants with a la carte menus. Drinks are also typically included in the package, including alcoholic beverages. Hotels may have one or two restaurants on-site, and guests may need to pay for their own meals and drinks.
Atmosphere: All-inclusive resorts in Mexico often have a lively atmosphere, with entertainment and activities throughout the day and night. Hotels may have a more relaxed atmosphere, with fewer organized activities and more emphasis on relaxation and privacy.
The resorts have an entertainment team that will do activities and shows throughout the day and engage with those that want to be a part of it. They have dry activities such as bike rides, tennis, dance lessons, yoga, and climbing walls. In the evenings they offer magic, dance, comedy, band, and cultural shows. The performers are professionals and these were awesome. The wet activities at the main pool are water polo, volleyball, foam party, zumba, and all sorts of engaging events.
An All-Inclusive resort provides all the food, drink, fun, entertainment, activities and relaxation you can ever want within these resorts!
